Jason and Gerson were married on a warm, sunny morning in the SimpliDone Gardens in Sammamish, Washington. Rev. Jan was the officiant and Barbara Roser was the photographer and is the owner of the beautiful gardens.

Jason and Gerson flew from Atlanta for the intimate ceremony and left later that day for their honeymoon in Hawaii.  Even though they live in Atlanta, they love Washington State and come here a couple times a year to hike and enjoy the outdoors.

After the ceremony in the fern forest, the newlywed couple toasted each other and then cut their chocolate wedding cake with fudge frosting. Jason and Gerson had a chance to visit with Rev. Jan and Barbara on the deck after all the festivities were over while eating some cake.  After their honeymoon, they will return to Altanta where  Jason is a fireman and also owns a landscaping business and Gerson owns a housecleaning business.

Couple Joyfully Wed after Eight-Month Deployment

Sonji and Radiah woke up on their wedding day to one of Seattle’s glorious clear, warm, sunny days. The sun could not compete, though, with their bright smiles, laughter, and sheer joy in getting married! They had waited a long time for this day, which included enduring an eight-month separation while Radiah was on deployment to the other side of the world.

Both brides were resplendent in their pink outfits. Sonji wore a beautiful, knee-length pink gown with a white garter hiding underneath and Radiah wore a gorgeous gray and black outfit with a pink shirt.  A stunning pink necklace, bracelet, and jeweled shoes completed Sonji’s outfit while Radiah’s outfit was accompanied by a beautiful diamond necklace and boutonniere.

The brides wrote their own vows to one another.  Sonji wrote:
“You are the kindest, most unselfish person I know.
You are my friend, my better half and the love of my life.
How did I get so lucky?”

Radiah’s vows quoted from the Song of Songs (Chap 8: 6-7) in the Bible:
“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm;
For love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love: rivers cannot wash it away.”

They were married at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle, which provided a high level of service to the brides, including supplying a coordinating wedding cake, bridal  bouquet, and boutonniere for the newlyweds.  The color theme of pink, lavendar, and white was carried throughout the whole wedding. After the wedding ceremony, the brides cut the cake and toasted each other with champagne.

Every aspect of their wedding was documented by the beautiful pictures Barbara Roser Photography took before, during, and after the ceremony.   The pictures will be a beautiful keepsake for the bridal couple.

Sonji and Radiah are an on-the-go couple.  Sonji will graduate from college next month and afterwards, the couple will relocate to California for Radiah’s next duty station.  Wherever they go, their joy and contagiously-upbeat personalities will follow! We wish them many loving years together as they travel through life hand in hand.

Easter Sunday Shines Brightly On Wedding

Kelly and Bonnie Rae were married on an unseasonably warm and bright, sunny Easter Sunday at the Millennium Room in Auburn, Washington. The brides and their guests were dressed in Easter colors. Both brides were escorted down the aisle by Bonnie’s father after her niece sang “I Wanna Grow Old With You”, accompanied on the guitar by her nephew. It was a beautiful ceremony with a reading from Gift From The Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Knowing that “love is easy, but relationships can be hard”, the reading talked about relationships and how they grow and change through the years. A relationship starts out so pure and simple, yet through the course of every day life, it changes and becomes complicated. It compares a good relationship with a good dance – the partners do not hold on to each other tightly, but they move in the same pattern while the dance is endlessly and beautifully unfolding. “They know they are partners moving to the same rhythm, creating a pattern together, and being invisibly nourished by it.” Bonnie and Kelly then recited their vows to each other that they had written, expressing the things they will do to help nourish and grow their relationship. A reception followed along with the cake cutting and several different kinds of cake to choose from! We wish Bonnie and Kelly a wonderful, long, and loving life together!

Lacey and Eric Tie The Knot

Lacey Schwegler and Eric Prater were very much in love as they tied the knot in a private ceremony on the morning of March 2nd, 2013.  Rev. Jan and her mother really enjoyed meeting the delightful couple and there were hugs all around to congratulate the newlyweds after the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Rev. Jan gave Lacey and Eric advice that would do well for every couple to remember:
Let your love be stronger than your anger.
Learn the wisdom of compromise, for it is better to bend than to break.
Believe the best of your beloved rather than the worst.
Confide in your partner and ask for help when you need it.

Eric is serving in the armed forces and Lacey will be a student as they make their home near Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM).  We wish them a long and happy life together!

Ji-Lin Wedding

Chengjun Ji and Banjie Lin were married in an intimate ceremony in a private ceremony in the home of Rev. Jan Carter.  In attendance were the bride’s parents and the mother of the officiant.  The radiant couple said “yes” and nodded their heads enthusiastically several times during their vows as Rev. Jan asked whether they took each other to live together in marriage, to love, comfort, honor, and keep one other for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, forsaking all others and to be faithful to each other for as long as they both shall live.  The ceremony ended with the reading, I Ching, which says:

When two people are at one in their inmost hearts,
they shatter even the strength of iron or bronze.
And when two people understand each other in their inmost hearts,
their words are sweet and strong, like the fragrance of orchids.

The newlywed couple will make their home in Seattle while attending college.

Arizona Couple Marry on The Seattle Wheel

Quinn and Steph had a spectacular setting for their wedding as they were married at sunset on The Seattle Wheel. The day was a beautiful, crisp, sunny day and the view from The Wheel, as we rose up above the water, was impressive as the tall buildings in downtown Seattle rose to the East of us and Puget Sound stretched out as far as we could see to the West! We took a few minutes to look at the view and take pictures, then had a beautiful wedding ceremony while we circled three times to the setting sun. After Rev. Jan talked about love and relationships, the couple said their own, heartfelt vows to one another as tears of joy flowed. A double ring ceremony followed and their vows were then sealed with a kiss. As the newlyweds alighted from the cabin of The Wheel, the crowd clapped and cheered for the happy couple. We wish Quinn and Steph every happiness as they make their home in Arizona!

Jared and John Wed Sunday Morning

Jared and John were wed on a crisp, sunny February morning, wearing red rose boutonnieres to add to the festive occasion. The ceremony was held in a private residence with four family members in attendance. John, handsome in his black sweater, beamed with happiness throughout the ceremony while Jared, in a beautiful white shirt, contained his smiles until near the end of the vows. They celebrated afterwards with the whole wedding party going bowling! Jared and John are both from Colorado originally but now make their home in Washington State. They plan an outdoor wedding this summer when people from out of state are able to attend.
